How to Build a Pokemon Deck Back to Sierra's Pokemon World!
Creating a new deck is one of the most challenging parts of this trading card game. A deck must have exactly 60 cards, and only four of each card except for basic energy cards. Double colorless energy is not a basic energy card, so you may only have four of that card in a deck. Also, even if you have two different cards, if the same Pokemon is on the cards it still counts toward your four. (For example, four Jungle Pikachu and four Base Set Pikachu are not allowed as the total number of Pikachu cards must equal four.) Most decks have up to two different Pokemon types (and sometimes some colorless Pokemon). Sticking with one or two types is better for now, unless you're a pokemaster. You should have around 30 energy cards in your deck. If you have one type of energy in your deck, about 25 energy cards should do; with two types of energies in your deck 15 of each; 14 of each will also do if you have a tight space. Count Double Colorless as a trainer. Most decks have about 5-15 trainer cards (take 10 on average). Trainer cards should be added according to your Pokemon or your personality. For low-HP Pokemon use Super Potions. For easy retreating use Scoop Ups and Switches. An offense kind-of-player should use Energy Removals and Gusts of Wind. Now, add about 20 Pokemon total. You should have a lot of Basic Pokemon, usually around 12. So that means cutting down on high amounts of evolution, as they take up space. Now, go ahead and make some changes. Take out and add cards that you think will do better (customizing the deck to your personality), and soon you'll have your ultimate deck! Free Online Trading Board
