Series III Card OverView
Based on various news sources including those of you who have emailed us, here is what we have put together on the Series 3 Cards so far.  Please note odds and estimated are still preliminary.   Series III cards  have 157 new cards and will have a whole new look as well as different card categories.

In order of difficulty to find, there are  Autographed cards (Yes), Retired cards, Classic Common cards,  Beanies & Buddies cards, Birthday cards, Wild Cards, Artist Proof Cards, Common Cards, and Beanie Sticker Cards. As in  previous series, it appears that there are four different color variations of the Retired, Beanies and Buddies, Birthday and Wild Cards.  The colors  (in order from easiest to hardest) appear to be turquoise, magenta, silver, and gold.

How to Determine the Color

Always an import question on the Ty "Chase" Cards.  Well here is your guide!

Retired cards, the color is determined by the background color of the card.
Beanies & Buddies and Birthday cards, the color is determined by the color of the name of the Beanie or Buddy.
Wild Cards, the color is determined by the color of the stars that surround the Beanie.

What If I buy a Box or Case of Cards, Do I get anything extra?

Also new in this Series are special inserts have been placed inside a sealed case and inside each sealed box of cards.  Inside a case is an  "Issued card" mounted inside a plastic card holder.   Also inside each box, it is reported that there is a Limited Edition Tear-A-Bear Card.

How many of each Different Style are Card is there?

From what we have learned, here is what we know.   Ofcourse the number of Autographed cards is based and past history.  It may take a few feeks to put the final pieces of this puzzle together.  Anyways, here is what we have so far!  Hardest to find is listed first.

What are the odds of getting each Card?

Series III Card Odds (Estimated)

These are the odds as printed on the card packs.  Estimated odds for Autographed cards are based on the fact that Ty Warner has signed one card of each color and each variation in the past.  There have been numerous rumors about whether this holds true for Series III cards.  Until a rumor proves true, these are our estimates, which ofcourse are subject to change as new information becomes available.  It goes without saying any "Ty" autographed card will be darn near impossible to get, so if we are off a little on our estimates, it means very little.  All Ty Autographed cards are GREAT finds no matter what odds we estimate!

Estimates on Production Quantities (Updated 8/12/99)

These Quantities are based on the actual number of retired cards produced.  Working out the numbers backwards from estimated odds of each card as printed on the pack of each card, be came up with a staggering 26.6% increase over Series II estimated production.
The numbers are based on numbers of each different color retired card and works out amazingly well.  Add up all the retired cards and you get 250,040.  Add 404 for the autographed cards then multiply by 72 to get total number of packs (since odds of getting an autographed or retired card is listed as 1:72).  From there all the rest of the numbers just fall nicely into place.

News Leading up to the release of the Series III Cards!

Sometimes fun to read how well the rumors predicted the facts.

Below is what we published.  Not bad this time around!

7/28/99

Series 3 Cards Reported
Series 3 cards have been reported to be out.  Seems to be some confusion on whether or not Autographed cards exist in Series 3 or not.  There was so much erroneous information reported when Series 2 cards first came out, I will not begin to speculate at this point.  It may take days or weeks to actually get the correct facts on Series 3.  There are some Series 3 cards being sold on Ebay that are advertised as "In Hand". Ebay Auctions, click here.   For a picture of  Retired Digger the Orange Crab, Click here.
According to one auction on ebay,  Series III Set will be composed of : 157 NEW CARDS. They will be packaged 24 packs to a box and six boxes in a case. The chase cards will be Retired cards (1 in 72 packs), Classic Commons (1 in 24 packs), Babies and Buddies cards (1 in 12 packs), (These are clear cards that fit together to make a Beanie/Buddy set),  Birthday cards (1 in 5 packs), and Wild Cards (1 in 3 packs). In each pack of cards will be a Beanie Babies Sticker Card, an Artist proof card, and an Official Club Mini-Magazine. You must buy a box to get a Limited Edition "Tear-A-Bear" card.
We will update the Series 3 Card Info as more information becomes available.
